I went climbing outdoors with the AMC folks today. It really is completely different from indoor climbing. Today’s rock in particular had lots of little nubs and not very many obvious holds. I also need to redevelop the calluses on my fingers to protect myself from the rock. But it was a good first outing for the season. I even, after many many tries, managed the hardest climb we had set up.
