climbing Humphey’s Ledge

Saturday we went climbing at Humphrey’s Ledge up by North Conway. The cliff is south facing, and we got treated to a beautiful sunny day, so it was nice and warm. Picture here.

The usual crew of Larry, Thor, Tyson, and I carpooled from Concord. We got there a bit early, so we drove up to the Cathedral Ledge over look. Tyson got some good pictures, and we got some beta on Whitehorse Ledge, another classic cliff. We were going to leave some cars at the Cathedral parking lot, but somehow everyone else wanted to leave at random times. And we had already done such a good job of carpooling that we ended up taking all the cars.

The climbing was good. I felt a little out of shape on the two 5.10s that I did, but, on the other hand, I did two 5.10s outdoors in one day. The first one had an overhung section, which is not my forte. Tyson did a nice lead climb. We had brought cookies to share, but unfortunately, the wife of one of the climbers who lived nearby brought cookies for lunch. Everyone stuffed themselves on those cookies and didn’t have room left for ours.

And then to top off a good day, a bunch of us went out to dinner afterwards and had a grand time chatting. It sounds like a bunch of people have cool overseas trips planned for this winter. We’ll have to get in on that some year when we have more time.
