Last telemark clinic
Emilie Phillips
Last Thursday was the last AMC telemark clinic for the year. This one was up a Gunstock, so it was a longer drive. But that also ment that Tony, Scott, and Paul who we don’t see so much were teaching. At the end of the previous clinic, I had figured out that my poling technique was probably causing me problems. So I got Paul to go over it with us. Proper pole timing really helped Tyson and I. When I got it right, telemarking started to feel easy. And Tyson was doing moguls on a black run, so I’ll assume it worked equally well for him. Unfortunately I still suffered from my usual problem where I can do some new piece of the turn quite well some of the time, and on other runs am an utter disaster. Since over-all I seem to make progress, I’m starting to resign myself to this sawtooth learning pattern.
Then after the clinic we went and hung out at a local pub — Scott, Paul, Tony, us two, and one of the other students, Mike, who had broken his pole on the Pemi ski through. We stayed terribly late, but it was all god fun.
