Sunday I left Tyson behind because of his knee and I went rock climbing with the AMC. We went climbing at Marlow. There were four people I knew and then three people who were trying out the AMC for the first time. They were all nice people who I’d like to see come back.
The crag we were at is small enough that I’d done all the climbs previously. One climb, though, I finally got a harder variant. I used a decided lack of technique. There were no particular hand holds or foot holds, just lots of nubbles. The way to do it well, would have been to have inched my hands and feet up on them. I managed that for three foot holds worth, and then I got to where I could just barely stretch to reach a crack above me. I grabbed that and just hauled myself up on it.
Rain rolled in in the afternoon, so we quit a little early. We were early enough that I had time to go hang out and get some ice cream with Thor and Larry, two of the guys that I’ve been skiing and climbing with for the last year and a half.
I still managed to get home before Tyson who had gone out kayaking.
