The trash finally filled up so I had to go take it to the “transfer station” (not dump, that would be too un-PC). The recycling had filled up a little while ago, but recycling isn’t nearly so disgusting, so I just kept stacking it next to the bins.
I keep debating whether to buy a composter sooner or later. The advantage of sooner is that I wouldn’t have to take the trash to the transfer station as often. Instead I would just have to haul the compost across the runway semi-regularly. The disadvantage is that I could maybe use that money to buy a kitchen cabinet for the house (or at least that’s my straw-man item that I compare every purchase to these days).
The one we had in Pittsburgh was $10 or so (buy a big trash can, drill a few holes). Or you can build a much bigger one for maybe $30 in wood posts.
