Lost Horizon rock climb

This was Tyson’s first rock climbing trip since his knee surgery. He really likes lead climbing, so I let him put up the route even though it was his first climb. It was an easy 5.4, so I was not worried. He did one other climb before deciding it was enough. That one he forgot his rock shoes and did in tenis shoes. I think we may have found the problem in his climbing technique given how little difference that made — too much on the arms and not enough on the feet.

As for me, I did not feel in as good of shape for climbing as I have other times. So I hung out and did some climbs. I did a slabby 5.10 (hard) climb that surprised me. There is a section were the are not foot or hand holds. You just kind of have to go up faster than you slide down. And on another supposedly easier climb I did poorly. I made it up, but without any style.

It was good to get out and see those folks again for the first time in a while. And we ended the day with some beers and a dip in the river to cool off.
