On my prior trip through the grocery store/farm stand, I had picked up a kohlrabi. I had no idea how to cook this turnip looking thing, but it seemed like something new to try. When I got around to cooking it, I resorted to the internet for a recipe. What I ended up finding was merely a list of possible ingredients (no amounts) and a cook time. Somehow I came out with a really tasty result. So here’s my new recipe:
1.2 lb 93% lean ground beef
1 kohlrabi in centimeter cubes
1 onion diced
2 cups vegetable stock
3 medium/large potatoes in centimeter cubes
3 cloves garlic minced
½ tsp cumin
salt & pepper to taste
Brown and drain beef in a large skillet.
Add everything else.
Cover and cook over medium heat for 30 minutes.
Reserve the liquid and thicken it to a gravy. Mix the gravy back in.
