I was staring at the Cheerios box this morning, so I started analyzing the wheat drawn at the bottom of the box. I’ve been particularly suspicious of Cheerios boxes ever since the one which displayed a big bowl of cheerios where every single cheerio was exactly the same. They hadn’t been rotated or anything, just copy pasted all over the bowl. That drove me nuts.
Well it appears that they’ve gotten a little more sophisticated. They had a background and a foreground wheat. The foreground wheat they had flipped horizontally and they had also distorted each stalk slightly differently. So while there were the same coarse features on each of them, they didn’t have that disturbing identical feeling.
Once upon a time they photographed actual bowls of cereal. I guess the flagrant photoshopping must be cheaper.
