I’m totally tuckered out from this weekend, but it was worth it.
Today we had more wind to play with. We did bow draws, which totally don’t work how I thought they did. Sweep strokes were probably the only thing from the entire weekend that I didn’t learn anything new about. We paddled backwards. We did a variety of tows. And there was plenty of general paddling around. And the obligatory surprise capsize and rescue scenario.
The day was absolutely gorgeous. The water was crystal clear. If I had not been so busy all day, I would have spent more time looking for neat stuff on the bottom.
Neither Tyson nor I passed the assessment. We demonstrated all the necessary things, but since we had just learned a bunch of them this weekend, the instructor was not confident saying that we were actually that level of paddler. So what we get to do is come back in a month or so and demonstrate that we are actually using the skills and have not forgotten them. Overall, though it sounded like we were doing quit well, and the instructor suggested we should definitely aim for the 4 star next. That will take a lot more lessons.
