Tyson and I have been living at the new house now for a week. Some of our stuff has followed us, but I would say that at least 50% is still packed into the apartment. The house seems to get a little hot on sunny days (not sure how hot, Tyson opens the windows at 70F), but it doesn’t seem to get too cold at night. 65F is the coldest it has dropped to. Of course outside temperatures are not that cold yet either. Lows have been 28~40F this week. I’ll post a graph once we have a bit more data.
As far as other random numbers, the house got a HERS rating of 35. Compared to your average house (100) that’s pretty good. Compared to a net-zero energy house (0), it’s not quite there. And the house is Energy Star certified. Too bad they don’t hand out stickers to post on the front door!
We just got DSL today, so we can stop living in the dark ages. Unfortunately, the house isn’t wired for Ethernet yet, so my desktop can’t get online… (The wires are there, they just aren’t crimped yet.)
The to-do list at this point is a mile long, but except for moving the rest of the stuff out of the apartment, I don’t think anything is really critical.
