I just barely had time to fit apple sauce in this year. I invited one of the neighboring families over to help. The kid found cranking on the press and producing apple sauce really fun. That made me happy because I always thought it was the best part as a kid too. What with switching kitchens and pot sets, and not having made any sauce last year, it took me a little longer to remember the routine. In the end we made 20 quarts of tasty apple sauce out of 1.5 bushels of apples.
