Tyson, Emilie & Isaac

up again

I had a couple days feeling blah at the beginning of the week, but now I am up and at it again.

I finally got around to doing my night cross country with my flight instructor. We had various scheduling conflicts including the holidays. The cross country flights are not technically difficult, but there is a lot to keep track of. We are not using a gps. Instead we use a combination of precalculated headings, radio transmitters, and looking out the window. That last is the hardest at night.

Last night, I went to the local ski hill, Wachusett, for some after work skiing. The snow was man-made and icy. There were lines at the lifts. And really it is not that exciting of a hill. However, I achieved my goal of getting some practice and leg workout prior to my class this weekend. I am signed up for two days of telemark technique analysis classes. I wanted to at least have a little bit of skiing under my belt before that.

After skiing, I got home and found my second Christmas present from Tyson. He decided the first was not quite sufficient. So he bought me some new telemark skis. Last weekend we had demonstrated well enough that I could ski better on Tyson’s skis than mine. So he got me the next generation of his skis and the same bindings as he has. (For telemark, the bindings actually vary widely.) I will get to try them out at my class this weekend.
