Section hiking Mid State Trail

I have not posted much, but since we got the backpack carrier, we have gotten out every weekend. We started section hiking the mid state trail. So far we have made it from the NH boarder south past Leominster, and over Crow Hill and Wachusett Mountain. The section passing Leominster followed some roads and occasionally wandered by back yards and cow pastures. The rest of the trail is routed impressively well through conservation lands for being in the middle of Massachusetts. The highlights of the trip so far have been mother grouse playing broken wing while the little chicks scurry off in the other direction, a very shy juvenile porcupine on a branch right above the trail, lots of blooming laurel, gorgeous little lakes, and lots of little snakes and toads.
