I hope last night will be the last time we have to jump our airplane. The irony was that we were starting the Bearhawk to taxi it to the hangar for upgrades that we hope will fix the starting issue.
The airplane came from Florida with several design choices that don’t work well in the cold. We already added an oil pan heater, now it will be getting a lower gear starter that should require less charge in the battery, and it will be getting a primer. The only thing left would be to change battery chemistry. We already replaced the battery itself.
If the updates don’t work then we have a big debug problem on our hands. If they do work, then we need to seal up the cabin so the occupants do not freeze.
