We went spring skiing at Gunstock on their last day. The snow was still quite good.
We had originally hoped to ski Mount Washington, but there was still significant avalanche danger and a rain cycle had just turned the snow to ice. Sunday down farther south was a nice spring day — around freezing, partly sunny. One of our friends works at Gunstock and had a few comp tickets left, so we even got to go for free.
We brought Isaac and another friend of ours. Tyson and I swapped off skiing with Isaac. Tyson had just taken a PSIA telemark class, so this was supposed to be a good chance to practice. Unfortunately, I am much less patient than Tyson is, so he got stuck with the bulk of the time with Isaac. I tried out a few of the techniques Tyson brought back and they worked nicely. By lunch time, Isaac was done, so I did a couple more runs while Tyson packed the car and we headed home. We did pause long enough to watch the pond skimming.
