The solstice proper was forecast to be rainy, so we kayaked on our local lake the Saturday before.
This was the first time for Isaac to get his own seat. I took my kayak and Tyson paddled with Isaac in the Bullitt. Isaac had “his” paddle and managed to keep hold of it the whole trip. For right now we have given him our one storm paddle, but we probably need a better solution. We paddled up one side of the lake and the incoming stream to the first beaver dam. I practiced a few rolls, including some offside rolls. I’m a bit rusty. I would need to practice to get my hand roll back, but I should be competent at a combat roll onside and offside. Then we paddled back the far side and stopped at the stone beach for a little bit of water play. Isaac is still quite scared of floating around in the water. And we need to dress him differently to keep him warm when wet. After water play, we replaced his wet shirts with a fleece jacket and paddled back to the car.
