Isaac received hand me down climbing shoes. To fit, he had to wear socks, but of course he wanted to try them out. Tyson’s knee was bothering him, so just Isaac and I joined Diane, Jason, and Ian at the local climbing gym.
At first, Isaac was too timid to try climbing. He wandered around with the other kids there observing the adults. My finger muscles are hopelessly weak, but I still have reasonable technique. I climbed some 5.9s and even made it up one 5.10.
Eventually Isaac decided to try climbing. He needed lots of help getting his feet into holds and keeping them there. The second time he tried, he climbed up out of our reach before giving up.
