Land clearing for a hangar

August 9, 2019

It’s been 9 years now that we have lived beside a runway, and we are finally going to build our own hangar. A big thanks to Jack Belletete, a friend of Tyson’s family and a pilot, for helping us with the building design and putting us in contact with contractors.

Initial rendition of the hangar. Still subject to change

The loggers started clearing the lot on August 9th. I salvaged a few small plants but the giant pines all went. After cutting, a different crew pulled the stumps out with an excavator. We asked the logging crew to leave us hardwood for firewood, so we spent the weekend cutting and stacking wood. We also re-measured and staked out the hangar. Once again we moved it slightly. Hopefully that’s the last time we move it. Over the past few years, we’ve measured and drawn it out almost everywhere on the lot.
