We rented a hotel room in Gorham for the first weekend in April. From 4 days out, it looked like the weekend might be great. But as the weather forecast came closer and closer into view, Saturday’s forecast stayed below freezing. And Sunday, the mountain forecast got above freezing but with 50mph winds in the ravines. Neither icy skiing conditions and long sliding falls, nor wind blasting us sounded fun, so we found alternate plans.
Saturday, we skied lift serve at Cannon. Isaac made a little bit of progress understanding the Telemark concept. He is having trouble with bending his back knee. We aren’t sure if his boots are too stiff, or he isn’t understanding the difference between what we are saying and he is doing.
Sunday, our friends invited us to go hike the north side of Parker Mountain in Littleton. The area has a bunch of mountain biking trails. Our friends are new to Littleton, so they didn’t know the trails yet, and none of us found complete maps. So we got lost for a while, and bushwhacked for a while, and found our way around in the end. The kids had fun, the adults had fun. So it was all good. We discovered evidence of snowshoe hare, which we wouldn’t have seen if we had stayed on trail.
