The Monadnock Sunapee Greenway Trail Club maintains a trail from Mt Monadnock in south western NH north to Mt Sunapee. The trail is almost 50 miles long. There is not continugous conservation land from Mt Monadnock to Mt Sunapee, so in places the trail is forced to follow country roads. The trail has regular Adirondack style shelters for through hikers. We have not yet camped at any of them.
Guides and Maps
The trail map sold by the Greenway trail club is very good. Somehow we ended up with their map but not their guide book. Instead, we use the AMC Southern NH trail guide which provides decent descriptions of the Greenway and all the side trails.
Here are most of our trip reports from hiking the greenway.
Monadnock and Mount Sunapee at either end make for good bigger hikes. In the middle, is Pitcher Mountain. It has a fire tower and blueberries, and is a good destination for little hikers. See our more detailed page on Pitcher Mountain and Hubbard Hill.
